Designed to be in keeping with the area, the hotel features locally quarried natural slate roofing and Lakeland stone walling, which wraps around the corners of the facade.
Sector
A £6 million development on the former Ravensfield Residential Care Home site, the Premier Inn, Keswick was designed by The Harris Partnership. Operated by Premier Inn’s parent company, Whitbread – the 71-bedroom hotel responds to the Lake District National Park context with local materials such as Lakeland stone and natural slate. Blending with the local aesthetic, the traditional exterior conceals a highly sustainable, modern method of construction. Reflecting the complexity of material demands and design precision, the development showcases how Frameclad’s offsite light steel frame systems can deliver innovative, efficient and safe solutions – behind a traditional facade.
Frameclad’s in-house team of 14 designers and engineers, digitally developed a full loadbearing system for the project, including a light steel solution for the extremely complex natural slate roof design.
